Flow cytometry has made quite a name in the life science research as it is been extensively used for diagnostics and life science research for almost over five decades. To prove the fact, one can type PubMed and could easily see that there are more than hundreds of papers have used thi technique to discover or research something.
In the last ten years, flow-cytometry as a technique has evolved a lot. This technique can measure molecules present on single cells, whereas today up to more than 20 market can be stained at one go.
The major drawback of flow-cytometry is that it is limited to cells in suspension. This makes it useless for flow cytometic analysis of a tissue which is solid. In order to deal with this, researchers used a technique which included digesting of tissue block in an enzyme solution, this will help them to get a single cell suspension. This cell can be analyzed by flow cytometry.
One can measure cells in flow cytometry with the help of digested tissue, but it is next to impossible to know the origin of a particular cell, for instance it is hard to figure out the cell was from the outside or inside gland, close to tumor area, away from the tumor area, or close to the tumor area.
It is proved that the flow cytometry has very little importance on a human body because human body is mostly made up of solid tissues, but the flow cytometry does have an importance in the worldwide market.
